Course Description

This online course provides AHA-certified training in adult and child CPR as well as the correct use of automatic electronic defibrillators (AEDs). This course also covers Basic First Aid and OSHA Bloodborne pathogens training.

This is a comprehensive video training course, ideal for those who work in a setting where they may be asked to provide CPR, first aid, and other medical aid on a fairly regular basis.

Please note: course of study may be completed earlier than indicated and students retain access for one year from the date of enrollment.

Outcome

After completing this course, participants should understand the following:

- How to perform the full CPR cycle including hands-only CPR on adults and children.
- How to use an AED on adults and children.
- How to help an adult or child who is choking.
- Steps on how to administer basic first aid for a variety of medical emergencies.
- What universal precautions to take when dealing with bloodborne pathogens.
- Identifying common bloodborne pathogens.
- Knowing what an exposure control plan is and where it is located.
- What steps to take following an exposure incident at work.
- How to perform a post-exposure evaluation and follow-up.
- Explanation of the color coding and symbols used for biohazards.
- How to protect themselves using personal protective gear (PPE).

Also upon successfully wrapping up the course of study, all students will be issued a certification of completion and a temporary wallet card on passing the exam. They can download the certificate immediately. A permanent professionally printed wallet card will be mailed to the student.

Assessment

This course contains a final exam to help you measure your progress and mastery of the techniques. A score of 70 or higher is required to earn a Certification.
